Lyrics
Tiger’s Cage
Words and Music by Bernie Sims
Everywhere she goes - she finds.
She brings him along - in her mind
This has never been - a perfect team.
“My God that’s no joke” she wants to scream.
She knows she must take - extra care.
In every circumstance, best beware.
He needs to get his way, every time.
Or there’s hell to pay - for her crime.
When he comes home late at night
If he’s smellin’ like booze – it’s such a fright.
She’ll lower her head and say nothing.
Anything to avoid his rage.
It’s like living in a tiger’s cage.
She knows she deserves much better than this
Needs to escape this hold of his.
Oo - Lookin’ for the strength to get out. (2)
She’s afraid she’ll say - the wrong thing.
Doesn’t take much - to feel his sting.
She questions every thought - crossing her mind.
Can it be her fault – where’s that line?
Three years she’s given him - where’d that go?
And for all of that – only bruises to show.
She lost herself too - along the way.
Needs to reach out and break away?
When he comes home late at night
If he’s smellin’ like booze – it’s such a fright.
She’ll lower her head and say nothing.
Anything to avoid his rage.
It’s like living in a tiger’s cage.
She knows she deserves much better than this
Needs to escape this hold of his.
Oo - Lookin’ for the strength to get out. (4)
